Missile strike in Tel Aviv
June 13 — Israeli Home Front Command soldiers inspect a building that was directly hit by an Iranian ballistic missile. Israel launched a sweeping assault on the heart of Iran’s nuclear and military structure, to strike key facilities and kill top generals and scientists — starting a series of missile exchanges between the two countries.
G7 “family” portrait
June 16 — Leaders of the G7 pose for a group photo at this year’s summit in Canada, where discussions were dominated by the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, rising geopolitical tensions, and the challenge of defending international law in an increasingly fragmented world order. U.S. President Donald Trump left the meeting early, reportedly to deal with the conflict in the Middle East.
Khan Younis despair
June 17 — Palestinians react outside Khan Younis’ Nasser Hospital as bodies and wounded people are brought to the facility after an Israeli strike near a humanitarian aid distribution center.
Minnesota lawmaker shooting suspect
June 15 — The FBI released images reportedly showing suspect Vance Boelter as he went on a rampage in Minnesota. Boelter was arrested after allegedly killing two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses, and wounding a state senator and his wife.
Funeral for Air India Flight victims
June 18 — Family members carry the casket of 15-year-old Akash Patni, who died in the London-bound Air India flight crash on June 12. The aircraft had 230 passengers and 12 crew members onboard. Only one passenger survived the crash while at least 39 people were killed on the ground.
Thailand’s PM in hot water
June 19 — Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra holds a press conference at Government House in Bangkok to apologize for a leaked phone call with former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, a known friend of her family, during which she discussed an ongoing border dispute — which opponents deemed a threat to national security.
Royal Ascot in the UK
June 19 — Racegoers wait for the start of a race at Ascot Racecourse, west of London. The Royal Ascot is a prestigious British horseracing event held annually over five days in June, featuring top-class thoroughbred races, high fashion, and attendance by members of the royal family.
Overtourism protests in Barcelona
June 15 — In Barcelona, protesters used water pistols in a symbolic protest against mass tourism, blaming it for rising housing costs and displacement. The coordinated demonstrations, under the slogan “Tourism robs us of bread, roof, and future,” drew thousands across southern Europe, including Mallorca, Venice, and Lisbon.
Wrestling Asian Championships
June 18 — Ishkar Kurbayev (Kazakhstan) flips Rasul Jorayev (Turkmenistan) during their bout at the U23 Asian Wrestling Championships in Vietnam. Kurbayev won 10-0 and went on to claim gold in his 60kg Greco-Roman division.
