U.S. daily newspaper Detroit Free Press dedicates its front page to an attack on a Mormon church in Grand Blanc, a town 60 miles northwest of Detroit. The death toll has risen to four, with at least eight others injured after a gunman drove a vehicle into the church, opened fire, before being killed himself.

• Trump to push proposal for elusive Gaza peace in Netanyahu talks. Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday, with the U.S. president pushing a Gaza peace proposal after a growing number of Western leaders embraced Palestinian statehood in defiance of American and Israeli opposition. In Netanyahu’s fourth visit since Trump returned to office in January, the right-wing Israeli leader will be looking to fortify his country’s most important relationship as it faces growing international isolation nearly two years into its war against Hamas in Gaza. • Russian drone and missile attack on Ukraine kills at least four and wounds 70. The attack targeted Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine early on Sunday in one of the most sustained attacks on the capital since the full-scale war began. Neighboring Poland closed its airspace near two southeastern cities and its air force scrambled jets in response until the danger had passed. • Moldova’s pro-EU party wins pivotal election with more than 50% of vote. Moldova’s pro-European ruling party won over its Russian-leaning rival in a key parliamentary election, results showed on Monday, a major boost for the country’s bid to join the EU and break away from Moscow’s orbit.
• Denmark bans all civilian drone flights ahead of European summit. The ministry said the decision was made in order to “simplify security work” for the police, and they could not accept “foreign drones creating uncertainty and disruption“. Denmark is one of several European countries that have reported “drone incidents” in recent weeks, with unidentified drones sighted above Danish military sites as recently as Saturday.
• Iran hangs a man accused of spying for Israel. Iran has hanged a man suspected of being “one of the most important spies for Israel in Iran” in the 10th such execution following the 12-day war in June with Israel and the United States. On Monday, Mizan, the judiciary’s news outlet, reported that Bahman Choobiasl was executed over his meeting with officials from the Israeli spy agency, Mossad.
• Hong Kong activist Nathan Law says he was denied entry to Singapore. The former lawmaker who left Hong Kong in 2020, said he was detained and later deported to the United States after landing in Singapore on Saturday to attend a “closed-door, invitation-only event”.
