“Biden Rinuncia!”: 21 International Front Pages As Joe Biden Quits Presidential Race

U.S. President Joe Biden has announced his withdrawal from November’s presidential election after weeks of pressure from fellow Democrats. Newspapers from around the world have reacted to the news, bidding au revoir to the Democratic leader on their front pages.

PARIS — The news arrived Sunday night across the planet’s Eastern Hemisphere, but there was still enough time for international newspapers to devote their front pages to the announcement of U.S. President Joe Biden withdrawing from the 2024 White House race.

The move came following mounting calls from many Democrats for the 81-year-old leader to make way for a new nominee, after a disastrous TV debate against Donald Trump and a series of embarrassing gaffes raised questions over his ability to run for a second term. Biden has endorsed his vice president Kamala Harris to be the party’s presidential candidate.

Here’s our selection of how U.S. and international newspapers are saying goodbye to the U.S. president’s race for a second term.
