Hosni Mubarak trial: Lawyers open defense case in Cairo

Lawyers for the ousted Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, have begun arguing the case for the defense, after his trail reopened in Cairo.

(BBC NEWS) Cairo – Mr Mubarak is accused of ordering the killing of demonstrators during unrest which led to his resignation last year.

The defense’s arguments are expected to last three days, state media report.

Prosecutors say Mr Mubarak should face the death penalty, along with his co-defendants – former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six senior policemen.
