In the 1950s, El Morocco was the It-spot for New York’s who’s-who — and the perfect place for a young Garry Winogrand to hone his skills as a street photographer. In the heat of the “Elmo” nightclub, Winogrand managed to seize the intensity of this couple dancing, taking 35mm photography to new intuitive heights.
