The first clips of the long awaited Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side were released yesterday, showing Outkast's Andre 3000 playing the famous guitarist (see below). The film was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in Sep. 2013, and is set to be screened at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, on March 12.

All Is By My Side will focus on the time Hendrix spent in London in 1966 and 1967 where he launched his career thanks to his trademark guitar solos. Sadly, due to a refusal by Hendrix's estate, the biopic, which was scripted and directed by 12 Years A Slave screenwriter John Ridley, will not feature any original Hendrix songs. Instead, Andre 3000 performs songs by Muddy Waters, the Beatles and the Troggs, which Hendrix covered himself.

Central to the tragic absurdity of this war is the question of language. Vladimir Putin has repeated that protecting ethnic Russians and the Russian-speaking populations of Ukraine was a driving motivation for his invasion.

Yet one month on, a quick look at the map shows that many of the worst-hit cities are those where Russian is the predominant language: Kharkiv, Odesa, Kherson.
