Extra! Spain Fears Of 'Contagion' From Greece

[rebelmouse-image 27089149 alt="""" original_size="750x958" expand=1]

La Razón, July 1, 2015

Right-leaning Spanish daily La Razón declared Wednesday that "the Greek contagion is Podemos." According to the Madrid-based newspaper, allowing the Spanish left-wing populist party Podemos to come into power could undermine Spain's economy just as it has begun to recover from a deep recession. Podemos was one of several anti-establishment parties to garner surprisingly strong support in last month's regional elections in Spain.

Governed by the Syriza party (which is allied with Podemos), Greece defaulted on a $1.5 billion payment to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at midnight Wednesday, becoming the first Western country in to default on an IMF loan.

ABOUT THE SOURCE: La Razón is a conservative daily newspaper based in Madrid with local editions in many other Spanish cities, including Barcelona or Seville.
