PARIS – World famous elite French chef Alain Ducasse has his own response to the economic crisis, which sounds oddly similar to a Burger King back-to-school offer.
"Buy one, get one free..." is the offer available to food lovers in the world’s gastronomic powerhouse. From September 17 to 23, French food lovers will get one meal for free for each meal purchased in one of the 1,000 or so participating restaurants around the country.
Launched for the first time in 2010, “Tous Au Restaurant” (France's restaurant week) is meant to celebrate food diversity and provide top quality menus at special prices. This year, in particular,
Each restaurant will offer its own menu which include an appetizer, a main course and a dessert. Weekends are optional depending on the participating restaurants, reports Le Figaro.
As part of the initiative, a food truck named “the restaumobile” will be driving around Paris offering meals cooked by some of France’s most acclaimed chefs.
Several prestigious Michelin-starred chefs are taking part in the event including the likes of Alain Dutournier and Marc Haeberlin.
